Twittervision for iPhone follows up on our other successful projects Twittervision (for the web) and Flickrvision, and is designed to give a glimpse of what's actually happening around the world.
With Twittervision for iPhone, you can watch what's happening around the world in real time, find people near you, and also search the Twitter conversation feed for keywords and terms. And, you can update Twitter with your current location! Explore what people are talking about and view web links right inside the Twittervision browser application!
Twittervision for the web has been featured on NPR, the BBC, Rocketboom, and in USA Today, the Times of London, the New York Times, the International Herald Tribune, Newsweek, and Slate.
Twittervision for iPhone is our most ambitious implementation yet, and there's more coming soon. Read on for details about some of the current features!
“Twittervision is a hypnotic glimpse into the lives of people around the world. It's a complete waste of time, in the same way that conversation, casual sex, and reading are wastes of time.”
— Nat Torkington for O'Reilly Radar (March 2007)
See what's happening near you with the Local tab. As you watch Twittervision, the program collects activity that's happening near you (within a 60mi / 100km radius) and saves it up for you. Just arrived in a new place? See what people are talking about near you!
The Global tab lets you review the entire timeline of postings that's been received so far. Saw something on the map you want to go back and check out? This is the place to do it.
Our most powerful feature! Find what people are saying about any keyword or topic. Just enter a search term and watch the results appear. Explore weblinks and see who's talking about your favorite subjects.
As you browse the global conversation, you'll want to save your favorite posts and review them. By clicking the + icon on the detail view of any post, you can add any post to your list of favorite Tweets for review.
Want to update your Twitter friends on your activities and whereabouts? Use the Update tab and enter a Tweet. Your post will be made to Twitter and will update Twitter (and the Twittervision map server) with your current location. If you'd rather not include your location, that's fine too — just turn it off location updates in the preferences.
